German actress and singer (soubrette) (born January 15, 1899 in Berlin - died September 16, 1993 in Bad Ischl, Austria) Trude Lieske had her debut in 1919 at the Theater am Sophienplatz in Kiel. From 1923, she performed at various theaters in Berlin, including in the 1927–28 Nelson-Revue "Die Lichter von Berlin" and at the Großes Schauspielhaus (1928–31) under Erik Charrell. During that time, she recorded several Schlager and operetta songs, including titles from Ralph Benatzky's operetta "Casanova" (1928), which she had helped premiere. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, Lieske also had several mostly smaller roles in movies, such as "Casanova" (1928), "Asphalt" (1929), "Der Herr Auf Bestellung" (The Darling of Vienna, 1930), and "Ich Bei Tag Und Du Bei Nacht" (I By Day And You By Night, 1932). In 1929, she married the Viennese lyricist and music publisher Armin Lackenbach Robinson a.k.a. Armin Robinson in Berlin. After Germany annexed Austria in 1938, she and her husband left and reached the United States via Switzerland and Spain in July 1941. They returned to Europe in 1949, settling first in Switzerland, then in Austria, but she did not resume her acting career.
