Edmondo

Edmondo is an electronic music project founded and directed by D. Ragnini (bass, synth, guitar). Born in 1996 in Bari, Apulia, South Italy, Edmondo worked mainly during the 90s. The main idea behind this project was to mix sampling techniques with analogue synthesisers and real instruments (treated or not), to mix live performances with programmed pieces of music, to mix drum machines with real basses, to mix the Afroamerican rhithms with digital sound. So Edmondo puts together people who write and perform music with electronic instruments (samplers, synthesisers, computers) with real musicians and sometimes djs/turntablists. To the sequences generated by Ragnini, we found jazz improvisations of Gianluca Petrella (trombone and analogue synthesisers) and Alberto Parmegiani (guitars) or turntablism of Vito Arpino or Massimo Torrigiani. Afro-ambient, dub, trip-hop and more are the style of this long-time disappeared Italian combo.
