Leonardo de Lorenzo (2)

Composer. Born 1875, died 1962. Started at the age of eight on a demanding musical education, playing the flute for several hours a day. The little boy was diligent. When he was sixteen he went to America on his own and worked as a restaurant musician. This was the start of a new era in his life. He went from America to Italy, to Southafrica, again to Italy and finally to America where he lived for the rest of his life. In America he was a highly respected flautist and music teacher. De Lorenzo had the good fortune to meet the right men at the right time and he had a successful career. He was invited to play with many famous orchestras.
