Ensemble Noamnesia is an American contemporary music group from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 1987 by Gene Coleman. With a flexible and constantly changing lineup of up to 20 musicians picked by Coleman on a project-by-project basis, Noamnesia premiered and commissioned hundreds of new compositions. The group's repertoire primarily focuses on European composers that are still relatively underrepresented in the USA, such as Luc Ferrari, Luciano Berio, Gerhard Stäbler, Mathias Spahlinger, Salvatore Sciarrino, Karlheinz Essl, Helmut Lachenmann, Vinko Globokar, and Bernhard Gál. They also performed works by George Crumb, Tung Chao-Ming, Yuji Takahashi, Otomo Yoshihide, Malcolm Goldstein, Burkhard Stangl, Alvin Curran, Guillermo Gregorio Kunsu Shim and other prominent composers and musicians. Between 1995 and 2008, Ensemble Noamnesia had been regularly performing at the University of Chicago's Renaissance Society.
