Brazilian opera singer (born 1889 in Rio de Janeiro - died 1921 in Madrid) After studying the violin at the conservatory of his home town, Viglione went to Italy to study voice at the Milan conservatory. In 1910, he made his operatic debut in Verdi’s ‘’Trovatore’’ in Alessandria. He performed not only in Italy, though, but also in Mexico City (1914 and 1918) and elsewhere in the Americas: he sang the role of Tonio in "Pagliacci" in Guantanamo, Cuba (1915) and at the Bronx Opera House in New York City (1916). In 1919, he played the role of Escamillo in "Carmen" in San Juan, Puerto Rico (1919). In 1920, he acted Lescaut in "Manon" in Havana, Cuba (1920). He died of pneumonia in Madrid on February 2, 1921. He recorded only one title for Columbia, the duet "Rivedrai Le Foreste" from Verdi's "Aida" with soprano Conchita Coromines (mx. 10860, recorded in Milan in 1909 and released in Italy as Columbia D9204).
