Alien Roy Group

Defining a suitable musical genre for the Roy Alien Group is a very difficult undertaking. There is funk music, fusion, bossa nova and much more in it – compelling, rocking, wide-ranging rhythms in all facets. Born and launched in 2008 from another previous formation, drummer Leonardo Antonini, bassist Corrado Cerbara and Roy Bynder Gallupi (piano) oriented themselves to Brazilian influences and styles such as those of Eumir Deodato or Azymuth. The arrival of the experienced guitarist and composer Gianni Salaorni inspired the group once again and brought another change of trend towards an even more progressive flair. This found its completion not least through the dominant guitar playing of Salaorni in his own compositions. The debut album contains original songs from the first three recording sessions in Florence (Italy) and presents a wide spectrum of jazz, funk and progressive music. The composer of most of the pieces is Roberto Basville.
