Macedonian composer and conductor. Born 03.02.1936 Died 25.01.2022 Aleksandar Džambazov was born in Stipar, Vojvodina, Yugoslavia. Studied music in Štip, Skopje and graduated from the Music Academy in Belgrade. From 1964 until his retirement worked as conductor of both Dancing and Revue Orchestras of RTS (Radio Television Skopje). Apart from his creative and conductor's work, Džambazov had been giving significant contribution to the growth of the musical and cultural life of his environment. He was one of the founders of the popular Macedonian children songs festival "Golden Nightingale" ("Златно Славејче"), which is held annually in Skopje. Aleksandar Džambazov had won over 40 prizes and awards at various international, federal and republic festivals and competitions. He had also won a number of professional and social acknowledgements, such as the "13th of November" Prize of the City Assembly of Skopje in the field of music in 1971; the "Golden Trumpet" of the Assembly of World War II Fighters in 1981; the figurine "Young Generation" in 1976, and many others. In 1998, he conducted Macedonia's first entry in the Eurovision Song Contest. Father of Igor Džambazov.
