Patrick Lange and Laurent Dedieu met at the age of 14 and have remained close friends ever since. Attracted by the creativity of London’s music scene, they decided to leave their French hometown of Toulouse in 1997. Whilst in London, a growing fascination with the electronic sound led them to move on from the classic 4-piece band setup, where Patrick played drums while Laurent focused on vocals and guitar. Influenced by artists of the last century such as the Beatles, Ennio Morricone, Serge Gainsbourg and Burt Bacharach, and also inspired by electronic pop music of the last 20 years including Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, New Order, Saint Etienne, Air, and Radiohead, they spent two years working on their debut album “To The Cowboys”. In the meantime they also worked on several remixes (Autour de Lucie, Toma), appeared on various compilations (rêves électroniques, hinterzimmer_pop), played DJ sets in London and performed live in Cannes at Pantiero Festival 2002 alongside DJ Mehdi and Telepopmusik. Today, Patrick is based in Paris and Laurent lives in South London. The band’s name originated in 1996, when Patrick and Laurent played in an indie-rock band called „Curtis“ so named because all members of the band were fans of the English tv-series „The Persuaders“, starring Tony Curtis and Roger Moore. Later, when Patrick and Laurent founded their new project, „moore“ seemed an obvious choice. Their first ep was to be called „music“, until they heard that Madonna was about to release an album with the same name. Simultaneously, a Spanish journalist received a copy of the ep and called to ask if the name of the band was „moore“ or „moore:music“. Patrick and Laurent then decided that „moore:music“ would be their name from then on. The 5-track ep later became the current album...
