Spark Is A Diamond

Spark Is A Diamond is an American hardcore punk, metalcore, and screamo band formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in summer 2006. It featured former band members from multiple bands such as Fall River, Morning For The Masses, and Hometown Anthem. The group consisted of three members: Alison Bellavance (vocals), Matt Boylan (guitars, vocals), and Matt Hall (drums). Matt left the band and was replaced by Joseph Crawford from Hometown Anthem. They were influenced by The Blood Brothers, Boy Crazy, Cursive, and more. They were originally called Hush Hush. They signed into Emerald Moon Records and had to change their name to not be confused to another band with the same name and not wanting to infringe on their name, the band has decided to rename themselves and called themselves Spark Is A Diamond. They released their debut ep “Keep Your Eyes Off The Prize” on November 14, 2006. On March 30, 2007, the band released a music video for the track "Check Your Lease, You're In F**k City," directed by Adam Kobylarz. In 2008, a short remix ep “You Can’t Stop” was released. The band found immediate success and later signed into Pluto Records and released the debut studio album “Try This On For Size” on May 6, 2008. Before the release, the band did a cd release party on May 3, 2008. The band released a music video for the track "President of The Wrong Crowd," directed by Adam Kobylarz. On September 17, 2009, vocalist Alison Bellavance posted a blog entry on MySpace stating that the band had broken up due to "personal issues."
