Hak's history and contributions to the Bay Area music scene have been going since House music re-took San Francisco in the early 90's. Beginning as a punk helper for the infamous party "Toontown," Thad Jones AKA Hak was what you might call a first generation candy raver, with his baggy pants, back pack, and whacked out toys. In the midst of all this, Hak met Adam Douglas while watching Joey Beltram knock the house down at "UFO's are Real." This was the beginning of the beginning for Hak, as he and Douglas soon after formed the 303 Terrorsists. Working with some low budget gear, and their prized $50 tb-303, the duo knocked out 2 Ep's on Flask Records.Soon after, Hak took to the world of Dj'ing. By 1995 he had moved on to the world of Drum and Bass, a far cry from the acid house he grew up on, but the intention was the same: Up-front, in your face, expressive, and feeling. From 1995 onward, Hak has been an integral part of San Francisco's ever growing Jungle community. Hak threw the first SF Jungle parties with the original members of the now infamous BASS KRU (Stareyes, Flux, Abstract, and later Noel & UFO), helping to build one of the strongest Drum and Bass communities the US has to offer. From then on, Hak has been renown for his hard hitting, abstract, dancefloor agenda, bridging the gap between the styles that are a rut for so many other Drum and Bass performers. Because of his talent, Hak has had the opportunity to play with nearly every top artists in his field. This long list includes: Trace, Technical Itch, Decoder, Stakka, Skynet, LTJ Bukem, Blame, Dieselboy, and the Phunkateck Crew. Hak is also a headlining DJ for Silver Pearl Records West Coast Massive known as Quest, where he drops the tunes between the biggest and the best while the floor never looses a step. "Inside," Hak's latest release on Black Pearl Records, is a hard hitting dancfloor bomb. Tough beats, acid layering, a bass that has already blown the bins, and is a sure fire hit. The remixes from Decoder are no less of a gem, and will without a doubt put Black Pearl Records, and the US Jungle Scene on the map.
