IMPULSE was the first national signing of Berlin label Studio K-7 and after makig a selection from hundreds of demos 4 mellow tracks were dropped on a 12 ". It also contains an abstract mix of Warp's Autechre and a remix of Cologne's Rootpowder (Formic, Electrecord), which became cult in the UK. "One-Six-Four-One-Seven" has this magical monotony of long train rides. The fade in (Train At 1 AM) and the final track (Heavybreath) consist of train noises in all frequencies, the rhythm developing slowly. Like Kraftwerk never happened! "The first German signing of the Berlin label Studio K-7 and the result is a driving electro-funk escape sound, restless and, despite its virtual monotony, extremely interesting!" - Groove, Apr-May 1997 "DJ Mart and Sven South alias Impulse are machine musicians with a heart, their effects reveal an intellectual affinity for rhythm researchers like Kraftwerk or Mouse on Mars. Demanding home listening!" - JazzThing, 1997 "Very deep passages without sounding bumpy; in other places again very danceable and yet raw. As always with good records, listening is more fun than describing, so go out and buy it!" - Frontpage, Mar-97
