Benjamín Brea (b, Galicia, Spain, September 18, 1946 - d. Caracas, Venezuela, April 23, 2014) A versatile saxophonist and flautist, Benjamin Brea was born in Galicia, Spain, on september 18, 1946. In 1960 with his family moved to Venezuela and became to Venezuelan in all extension of the expresion. Brea studied at José Ángel Lamas music School, in Caracas. Brea played all kind of popular music: pop, rock, jazz, salsa, gaitas, cañonera music group, etc. In that way he worked in a reeds sessions with Orquesta Filarmónica de Caracas led by Aldemaro Romero, RCTV's orchestra, Gerry Weil band, Alberto Naranjo and his Trabuco, Los Balzehaguaos of Frank Quintero, Grupo Makoya, Carlos "Nené" Quintero's Group, Andy Durán Latin Jazz Band, Orquesta Venezuela, Jazz Band 75, grupo Piano, and many more. Brea recorded three albums studio: Another Point Of View (1995), Un Viejo Amor (1997) y Christmas’ Saxes (1999) Benjamín Brea, the Marvelous Gallego, passed away in Caracas on April 23, 2014, after suffered a cancer.
