Troupe of five musician/singers from Tuva. Shu-de is known for its Tuva throat singing and interpretation of shamanic songs. Founded in 1992 by Alexej Shoigu, Boris Salchak and Nadezna Shoigu, SHU-DE performs traditional music from Tuva. The same year the group was invited to take part to a festival in Wales. Following the big success the group also performed at the Womad in Reading and recorded for the "Real World" series, directed by Peter Gabriel. More recently joined Mongun-ool Ondar and Oleg Kuulur, two among the best traditional singers in Tuva joined the group. The group has performed in many important World Music Festivals and toured Europe and America. The band recorded its first album in 1994 Voices from the Distant Steppe, followed by Kongurei in 1996.
