Algerian singer and comedian. Originally from Souk Naâmane (Aïn M’lila), Yamina Djelloul was born in Constantine, Algeria on August 31, 1960. In 1975, she enrolled at the Constantine Conservatory where she spent three years. She then became part of the polyphonic choir of the regional station of the RTA, while hosting galas. In 1979, she won the fourth prize in the Alhane Oua Chabab competition. In 1980, the date of her marriage to Allaoua Zermani, actor at the TRC, she stopped singing while continuing to do comedy. She has held roles in many plays including Hada idjib hada (1976), Rih samsar, Ness el houma, Ghassalet nouader, Eddaraouiche, etc. She did not resume singing until January 1990 by recording three modern songs in the Lebanese genre at ENTV. ‘Aynik ya aynik’, a slightly revamped popular song, was the hit of 1991. It was the song that opened the doors to stardom in Northern African countries.
