American jazz percussionist, producer, and engineer. (do not confuse with jazz drummer from NYC, Steve Reid (2).) Born: 6 January 1944 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. Reid begun releasing material in 1987, scoring his greatest success yet as a co-founder of the enormously popular contemporary jazz group The Rippingtons, also crossing over to pop audiences as a member of Supertramp. Named as Jazziz magazine's Percussionist Of The Year in both 1993 and 1995, in between issuing his solo debut, the worldbeat-influenced "" (1994), then the follow-up "" (1996). Subsequent efforts included "4455464" (1997) as Steve Reid's Bamboo Forest, "Passion In Paradise" (1999), and finally "" (2001).
