Simon joined Abbey Road Studios as Transfer Engineer in July 2001 after completing a BA (Hons) degree in Popular Music Studies at Sheffield University. He also worked as a session musician for a number of theatre and television productions including Michael Barrymore’s My Kind of Music and Richard Blackwood. As Transfer Engineer, Simon is responsible for PM-CD clones and verification, producing cassette production masters, digitalisation from analogue ¼” to .aiff files, reference/promotional CDs and all other ¼” analogue, Betamax, 1630 U-Matic, DAT, Mini-Disc, CD and .wav file transfers. He is also responsible for checking, re-splicing and baking analogue tapes. Simon has worked on a number of projects including producing cassette masters for Robbie Williams’ Swing When You’re Winning, Kylie Minogue’s Fever and Light Years and the Box compilations in association with Virgin and EMI. He has also worked on various projects for EMI Classics and Gold.
