He recorded prolifically, especially for Grey Gull, with who he cut more than 160 tracks. He used many pseudonyms during his audio career; among the names he adopted were: Mr. "X" (2), Bert Trevor, Hugh Donovan, Jim Andrews (4) or Vel Veteran, but these pseudonyms were also used by other singers.
