Domenico Busan (c. 1720—1783) was an Italian luthier who made bases, cellos, violas, and violins. Born outside Treviso in northern Italy, Busan primarily worked in Venice. As per different sources, Busan either arrived in Veneto's capital around 1736 (and possibly was one of Matteo Goffriller's last apprentices) or settled in 1743-'44, after Goffriller's passing. Domenico Busan sold his instruments through Ignazio Ongaro's workshop. Most of the surviving examples, dating from 1747 till 1782, show all defining characteristics of "Venetian School," but typically, they're much less refined, utilitarian in look.
