David Mitton

David Mitton was a Scottish-born director, producer, model maker, special effects technician and writer best known for his work on Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends from its television debut in 1984 until 2003. He also co-created a similar show, using model boats instead of trains, called TUGS. He began his career working for Gerry Anderson on productions such as Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons and Joe 90 before opening his own production company, Clearwater Features, with Robert D. Cardona. Born: 13th July 1938 in Preston, East Lothian, Scotland. Died: 16th May 2008 in London, England at the age 69 from a heart attack.
