Karl Lavine

Karl Lavine is a principal cellist for the Madison Symphony Orchestra and The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. He is a member of the Kepler Quartet, a project established to record complete microtonal string quartets by composer Ben Johnston. From 1999 to 2009, Lavine was a member of the Milwaukee-based new music ensemble Present Music, and he continues to perform regularly with John Harbison's Token Creek Festival. Karl Lavine has held faculty positions at Iowa's Luther College, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Illinois Wesleyan University.
