Cha Cha Cha was an indie pop band active in the mid-to-late 90s. Starting out as a small homemade magazine in the summer of 1995, the 'zine was written by members Mike Perez and Raoul de la Cruz. With each 'zine, a tape of 4 songs was included, with each tape featuring a different singer. Eventually, the tapes became more popular than the magazine itself, so the magazine went defunct and they continued on as a band, taking things more seriously. Recruiting Rachel Thorson to be their full-time singer, the trio of her, Mike (bass, synthesizer, samples), and Raoul (guitar and trumpet) were the force behind Cha Cha Cha for the remainder of their career. With a love for retro 60s Moog synths, old school hip-hop, and pop, they created their own unique brand of lo-fi indie pop. The band released a handful of singles and EPs on the label Motorway before calling it quits.
