Born in Yogyakarta 1916 & Died August 31, 1979, Yogyakarta, Basiyo is a comedian from Yogyakarta who speaks Javanese. Lawakan Basiyo became famous in the Central Java region through radio, television (TVRI) broadcasts, and various recordings. The jokes are often referred to as the Mataram Dagelan, according to the name of the show at RRI Yogyakarta. In comedy, he used to work together with Sudarsono, Hardjo Gepeng, Supar. He is not only a comedian, but also succeeded in popularizing the type of gending "Pangkur Jenggleng", namely, the Javanese way of singing (nembang) which can be interspersed with comedy, without losing the rhythm of the song being sung. The way to beat the gamelan is unusual, because it relies more on the drum as the main accompaniment to finally use the last beat (bar) as time to hit all percussion instruments (especially the saron) as loud as possible. Although using Javanese language and "old product", the name Basiyo reappeared. Basiyo often collaborated with names of famous artists in the world and his time, such as Bagong Kussudihardjo, Ki Nartosabdo, Nyi Tjondrolukito, and others. Some of his admirers, such as cultural observer Umar Kayam, painter Affandi. Family : Basiyo is known to have been married three times. His first wife named Mrs. Karto, gave him 7 children. Then from his second wife, Mrs. Sri Suparti, Basiyo has 5 children. Meanwhile, with his third wife, Mrs. Pudjiyem, was not blessed with children. Pudjiyem was the one who accompanied Basiyo to perform on stage until the end of his life. Basiyo died on August 31, 1979 and was buried in Terban Public Cemetery, Yogyakarta
