John Ronayne

Irish classical violinist. Born 16 October 1931 in Dublin, Eire - Died 28 June 2009. In 1948, he joined the Radio Eireann Light Orchestra as second violin, and in the following year moved to the symphony orchestra. He then moved to London, England where he studied at The Guildhall School Of Music & Drama. Former member of the London Symphony Orchestra (1955-1957). In 1958, he was offered the co-leadership of The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1963, he was offered the leadership of the RTÉ Symphony Orchestra. He then accepted the position of the Leader of the Münchner Rundfunkorchester. He returned to London and, after a brief spell with the RPO, he decided to join the session world.
