Chris Tomsa from Berea, OH, is an American Consultant and Music Arranger since 1977. Professionaly, he is a Senior Consultant and Trainer at BenchmarkPortal from Harrison, Ohio. Among others he acted as an Assistant Director at Colts Drum & Bugle Corps (September 2013 - August 2016), Brass Caption Head at Mandarins of Sacramento Inc. (January 2016 - September 2018) and Brass Program Director at Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps (September 2017 - September 2018. The pageantry arts have been Chris' passion for four decades as a performer, instructor, arranger and adjudicator. Chris has instructed and arranged for many of the world's finest drum and bugle corps including the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps, Phantom Regiment (2), Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps, Colts Drum & Bugle Corps, Capital Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and [a7695408]. In his years at Madison, Chris mentored with Drum Corps International (DCI) Hall of Fame brass instructor James Elvord where they won three DCI High Brass titles together, as well as the Drum Corps International World Championships. While at Madison, Chris also had the unique opportunity to mentor with two of the activity’s legendary marching band and drum corps arrangers, Raymond Baumgardt and Jim Ott. He put this experience to good use in the marching band activity over the past 30 years, having composed and arranged wind music for some of the nation's top high school and college marching bands from around the country. In addition to composing and arranging, Chris has been active as an instructional and design consultant to various drum corps and marching bands around the United States and Canada, and is a judge for marching band and indoor pageantry arts competitions. He is also a contest administrator and adjudicator for Winter Guard International (WGI Sport of the Arts), as well as President of the Mid East Judges Association.
