Albert Hay Malotte

American composer, pianist, organist, and educator. Born in Philadelphia, May 19, 1895. Died in Los Angeles on November 16, 1964 (age of 69). Malotte is best known as the composer of the most popular musical setting of "The Lord's Prayer" in the English language, composed in 1935 and introduced on radio by John Charles Thomas. His output was mainly focused on religious settings, however, in addition to "The Lord's Prayer," "The Beatitudes," and the "23rd Psalm," he was also a prolific film music composer, writing (both credited and uncredited) the scores for almost 40 films during the 1930s and '40s, including "Ferdinand le Bull". He charted in 1949 with "The Lord's Prayer" by Perry Como (credits list co-writer as Jesus Christ); it landed at #28 on the U.S. charts.
