Canadian producer, engineer, electric bass player and pianist. He dropped out of Engineering after one year at The University of British Columbia to pursue his music and recording engineering interests. He went on to study music and acoustics, and became an acoustics researcher first with Artec Consultants in New York City, and then with Barron & Associates in Vancouver. His work was used in the acoustical design of such concert halls as the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts in Vancouver, The Colorado Music Hall in Colorado City, and The Orange County Performing Arts Centre. In 1969 he had an idea to record a benefit album to raise funds to save the "Cool Aid House" in Vancouver, a home for rambling homeless youth and hippies. The result was The Cool-Aid Benefit Album Vol. 1 album, produced and engineered by Walsh. John had two daughters, Eileen and Karen, with his wife, Kirsten. He was diagnosed with brain tumor in 1984, and passed away in 1997.
