American band formed in 1965. They evolved from the Topsiders, a surf combo formed at Fremont, CA's Washington High School in 1964. Line-ups: Topsiders: Jim Sawyers (lead guitar) Ken "Toad" Matthew (drums, vocals) Tom Antone (bass) David Tolby (born David Phelps; second lead guitar) Skip Spence (rhythm guitar; joined briefly in 1965) The Other Side (end 1965): Tom Antone (bass) Ken "Toad" Matthew (drums, vocals) Jo Kemling (keyboards) Danny Phay (vocals) Edward Johnston "Ned" Torney III (keyboards) Martin Van Slyke Battey (harmonica, guitar, vocals) (from January 1966) The Other Side (mid 1966): Tom Antone (bass) Ken "Toad" Matthew (drums, vocals) Edward Johnston "Ned" Torney III (keyboards) Alan Graham (guitar, vocals - from the band Lord Jim Quintet) Martin Van Slyke Battey (harmonica, guitar, vocals) After Tom Malone and Martin Battey left, the remaining members recruited bassist Wayne Paulsen and rechristened themselves Bogus Thunder.
