Eduardo Magallanes

Eduardo Magallanes Calva, (Mexico City, August 12, 1941) is a Mexican musician, arranger, composer, conductor, music producer, and A&R. He is one of the most prestigious and category arrangers in the music industry in Mexico. From the 60s to the present his musical style has marked tendency and influence over other later arrangers. He has been the producer of great musical successes. His versatility and talent have explored the world of popular music, ballads, pop, ranch music, jazz, opera, and chamber and symphonic music. He has been artistic director, producer, A&R, and executive at Peerless Records, RCA Victor and Polygram, contributing an important historical legacy in the cultural heritage of popular music in Mexico. It was the executive who awarded the first record contract to Juan Gabriel, with whom he collaborated, for over forty years, in the musical arrangements of most of his discography. As a composer, he has collaborated with the poets and lyricists Ricardo López Méndez and Mario Molina Montes, with whom he composed the success of Angélica María, A Donde Va Nuestro Amor.
