Argus (16)

Argus is a 5 piece band that originated in 2008, where the 2 guitarists decided to start a band and started playing their favorite band Wishbone Ash. With the addition of Frans Nooijen (vocals and keys) and Ed de Groot (bass guitar) and Sven de Waal (drums on this CD) they have started working out their songs, from melodic guitar work, with bluish guitar solos to nice spicy guitar work, with the occasional fierce Minimoog solo, roaring Hammond, spherical synths underneath, with a solid foundation of drums and bass, Argus comes to the sound it is today. The use of the Theremin also occurs regularly in the songs of Argus, which creates a mysterious atmosphere and makes the music somewhat unique in the prog world. In January 2016 Argus released its first CD Tell Me! Released and sold several hundred around the world. Frans, Sven and Ed have played in the Oalnego, where they also made prog rock Wim had hung up on his guitar for 15 years and used to play in The Husband, a rock cover band, but when Ton V Extel, his old buddy from the past asked to start a band together they picked up the guitars again and started looking for suitable people to found Argus. Sven (who, by the way, played the CD) unfortunately had to hand over the drum sticks to Marijn Schellekens due to lack of time. Argus plays prog-rock (symphonic rock) and has listened carefully to their great examples such as Pink Floyd, Transatlantic, Spock's Beard, Genesis, Wishbone Ash. With these bands in mind, Argus has tried to create their own unique sound. Already stood as support of Kansas and support of Saga.
