American orchestra leader, pianist, conductor, composer, and actor. He was successful as a recording artist, hotel bandleader, and as leader of radio orchestras. Born: February 8 1906 U.S. Died August 8, 1974 Houston, Texas (age of 68). He was the son of a concert pianist, and Henry first began in the same field. But he switched to organize a popular society dance band at posh hotels on both East and West Coasts in the 1930's. One of his specialities with his orchestra was doing remote broadcasting of his shows. He and his orchestra charted 14 times between 1933 and 1948--" Would You?" their highest reached #4 on the U.S. charts in 1936. He had 4 other top ten songs including "Good Night, Little Girl of My Dreams" (#7 in 1933), "You're a Builder Upper" (#7 in 1934), "Chasing Shadows" (#7 in 1935), and "Dancing with My Shadow" (#9 in 1935).
