Polish rock and roll / beat band Żaki was founded in 1960 in Wrocław, at the Youth Culture Center. The first line-up of the band they found themselves : Mirosława Andrzejewska - vocal, Ryszard Czerwiec - guitar; Witold (?) - guitar; Jerzy Glatz - leader; bass guitar and Edmund Urbański - drums. At the beginning, the band played mainly instrumental pieces from the repertoire of The Shadows and The Ventures, arranged by Zenon Witecki. In 1962 the group moved to the Youth Cultural Center "Krzyki". In 1964, Żaki won the 2nd prize at the 1st Polish Review of Amateur Singers and Bands in Jelenia Góra - from this event commes live radio recording "Shazam" from Duane Eddy's repertoire (in Poland known primarily for the performance of The Shadows), piece that the band played at this festival. In 1965, with help of electronics friends, musicians constructed their own sound equipment. In later period, line-up of the band changed. In the group Żaki they performed: Roma Osikowska - vocal, Jerzy Fiedler - vocal, Zbigniew Rosicki - guitar, Jerzy Czeladyn - guitar, Włodzimierz "Nanka" Szomański - guitar, singing, Jacek Kowalski - piano and changing drummers: Andrzej Jezierski, Grzegorz Zydel and Henryk Lesiński. In October 1966, the band moved to the club "Olimp", where they played to dance every Saturday and Sunday. The group made recordings in the broadcasting station of Polish Radio Wrocław. In 1968, Żaki took part in the "Friendship Cruise" from Wrocław to Frankfurt on the Oder in Germany. Formation performed mainly in student clubs, she also took part, along with other performers, in the first Wrocław "Non Stop", which took place in the banquet hall of the "Polonia" hotel. Band ceased to exist in the fall of 1968.
