British born chorus director and conductor (born c. 1898, died 20 January 1990), whose career was mostly in America, specifically in New York City. He was most noted for having worked with the Schola Cantorum Of New York from 1927 until his death in 1990 -- he directed the chorus in association with every conductor of The New York Philharmonic Orchestra for more than half a century. In 1933, he became a professor at the Manhattan School of Music, running school's vocal groups and teaching musical history.
