Micha Schwarz

Micha Schwarz was born in Dubai and spent part of his childhood in the United Arab Emirates. He got the first drum from his parents when he was one year old. This small instrument, covered on both sides with goatskin, was one of his favorite toys for several years, until one day a playmate destroyed the drum's skins with scissors. Soon after, Micha already had a small collection of different drums and percussion instruments. This collection continues to grow and drums are still one of his favorite "toys". He made his first stage experiences as a percussionist as a youngster who had just outgrown punk in a band called "Second Paradies". Current projects and bands in which he participates are the percussion ensemble Makame, founded together with Mecky Pilecky, the group Adana inspired by jazz, klezmer and ethno groove, the spherical ambient folk playing trio Massassi Tunes, the meditative music playing trio Klanglandschaft and his solo project Moranga Project, located between world and ambient. Micha Schwarz has had the pleasure of working as an endorser for the company Cajon-Direkt Percussion since March 2009 . Micha experiences the drum as an instrument whose voice can express and evoke intense joie de vivre and ecstatic sensuality as well as deep contemplation. For him music is one of many possible bridges between the apparent opposites of worldliness and spirituality.
