J. Zaagmans

Johan Zaagmans was a Dutch military band leader, composer, music teacher and flute player. Born: Utrecht October 14, 1861 Died: Lochem October 9, 1944 Zaagmans was the successful Bandmaster of the Stafmuziek van het 7e Regiment Infanterie in Amsterdam (1887-1912). He was extremely popular, particularly through the concerts in The Tolhuis. He was called the Willem Mengelberg of the people, after the famous Conductor of the Concertgebouworkest (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra).
