Gary Gibson

Gary Gibson formerly taught jazz percussion at Seattle's Cornish College of the Arts, a post he held from 1988 (when he moved to Seattle from Chicago) to 1996. Although retired from teaching since 1996, he remains active as a jazz educator, performing and giving clinics and masterclasses at college and university music programs throughout the U.S. He is on the faculty of the Centrum Jazz Workshop/Port Townsend Jazz Festival. A drummer since the age of five, and vibraphonist since the age of eight, he has worked professionally for 26 years, playing and/or recording with such jazz greats as Bud Shank, and various local jazz and ethnic music groups including Seattle duo the Sharpshooters. Gary has been the drummer / percussionist for many of the shows at Seattle's Fifth Avenue and Paramount theaters, and was percussionist with the Seattle Festival Orchestra. He performs with The Gary Gibson Jazz Quartet/Trio.
