Oboist Jan Eberle is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with John de Lancie. Her post graduate studies were completed with John Mack of the Cleveland Orchestra. She served as Principal Oboe of the Fort Worth Symphony for eighteen years, and as a guest principal in the Cincinnati, Detroit, Houston, Minneapolis, and North Carolina Symphonies. Chamber music and solo appearances have been an integral part of Ms. Eberle’s career. She was a winner of the Southbay and Coleman International Chamber Music Competitions, and was Solo Oboe of the Harvard Chamber Players. She has recorded with the Ars Nova Wind Quintet on the Musical Heritage label, with Spectral Trio on the Blue Griffin label, and as a solo artist with Centaur Records. Ms. Eberle is frequently featured as recitalist, concerto soloist, and clinician throughout North America, and has been published in the International Double Reed Society Journal. She has been an adjudicator of the Gillet-Fox International Oboe Competition, Meg Quigley International Bassoon Competition, and the Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) National Concerto Competition. Ms. Eberle is currently Professor of Oboe at Michigan State University and Principal Oboe of the Lansing, Jackson, and Saginaw Bay Symphonies. She spends her summers in Chautauqua, NY, where she serves as Principal Oboe of the Chautauqua Symphony and Instructor at the School of Music. She can be heard regularly on National Public Radio broadcasts of the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra and seen nationally on PBS television specials with the Fort Worth Symphony in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
