Subhraag Singh is an American microtonal composer, woodwind performer, inventor, and creator of Infinitone DMT, a "dynamic micro tuning" computer software. Originally from Tucson, Arizona, he is currently based in Mönchhosbach, Germany. Singh began playing saxophone at age 11, later studying with renowned jazz pedagogues Lee Konitz, Gary Bartz, and Larry Ridley. As a jazz saxophonist, Subhraag Singh performed extensively in the United States and Europe, appearing at prestigious venues from The Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City to Centre Pompidou in Paris. Subhraag spent three years studying with Bhai Baldeep Singh in India, profoundly impacted by various microtonal scales and the broadness of the pitch spectrum in traditional Indian music. Since then, the artist has focused on expanding modern music technology beyond the 12-tone-chromatic scale. As a composer, Subhraag Singh utilizes a variety of unconventional tunings, such as Erv Wilson's 22-note "Evangelina" tuning or a custom just intonation scale based on Alain Daniélou's 53-tone "Universal Scale of Sounds." Subhraag Singh invented an acoustic wind instrument Infinitone, dubbed the "saxophone of the future," which allows to easily and quickly play any music interval in the harmonic spectrum at any time. In 2017, "Infinitone" won first prize at the 2017 Guthman New Musical Instrument Competition at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Subsequently, Singh developed "Infinitone DMT," a software for integrating micro-tuning into existing musical instruments and programs, which is available as macOS/Windows standalone or AU/VST3 plugin for various DAWs and synthesizers.
