b. February 2, 1900 in Gainesville, Georgia d. January 31, 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia Rufus Quillian was a songwriter and bandleader in 1920s and 30s Atlanta. He and his brother Ben Quillian performed with James McCrary as the Blue Harmony Boys, playing at parties and dances and on WATL radio. Quillian wrote popular hokum blues songs for a commercial audience, risque titles like Tight Like That, Dirty but Good, Keep it Clean and Working it Slow.
