Kids In Tracksuits

(K)iT all started around ‘02 when a couple of Nottingham kids got too bored & lazy to go out on their skateboards anymore and decided to stay indoors with their Wu-tang records, making beats, dj-ing and eating toast. The two Kids in question are Andy (hip-hop governor /DJ/turntablist) and Matt (drum surgeon/sample geek). Matt sent minidiscs of his beats to Andy for scratch over-dubs and Kids in Tracksuits was born. Although nowadays the two work more closely, producing everything together in the same room, the raw feel of those early minidiscs is still present, something like a vintage NY mix-tape thrown through a scratched-up electro blender. Kids in Tracksuits have been taking their lap-top/turntablist shizzle to live venues since ’03, playing gigs with De La Soul, Luke Vibert, Mu-Ziq, Zero DB, Broke n English, Peanut Butter Wolf, Jehst, 808 State, Treva Whateva, Bonobo, Cylob, Alice Russell, Phi Life Cypher, TM Juke, WHY?, Subtitle, Ugly Duckling, Big Daddy Kane, Cappo, Braintax, Mr Hudson, Amp Fiddler, The Freestylers, DJ Yoda, Aquasky, Larrikin Love, Lethal Bizzle, Jap Sluts and loads more. The Kids' first release 'Get Your KiT On' came out on a limited edition 7", and was instantly a hit with the Radio 1 boys, earning them a Live Lounge Session back in '06. This lead to a massive amount of interest form promoters, and the Kids have been playin out all round the UK pretty much every week since, and got took on holiday to Holland to play at the Lowland Festival. They followed this swiftly up with 'New Kids Rock The Block', an 8 track mini-album which again caused a bit of a stir about the place. Rob da Bank bought them back down to the Radio 1 studios, this time for a live session recorded at Maida Vale, which was broadcast on his show in October 06.
