Danish multidisciplinary visual artist, scenographer and textile designer, born 13 March 1981, Ågård, Vejle, and currently based in Copenhagen. Laura Rathschau is primarily interested in production design, building decorations for physical and virtual spaces, and creating live visuals for music performances. She studied textile design at The Royal Danish Academy Of Fine Arts (KADK) between 2004 and 2010, as well as media art and theory of documentary films at OCAD University in Canada in 2009–10. Laura has worked as a tutor at her alma mater, KADK, since October 2012, counseling master students and conducting her workshop on design identity; she is also a guest teacher at Københavns Erhvervsakademi (Copenhagen School of Design and Technology) since May 2014. Laura Rathschau regularly works with a composer-pianist Signe Bisgaard. In March 2018, they presented Danse Macabre, an immersive multimedia performance at Aarhus University, inspired by the depiction of Death in European art, from Arnold Böcklin's iconic "Isle of the Dead" painting to Edvard Munch's graphics. With a live soundtrack performed by Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, renowned electronic producer Bjørn Svin and cellist Ida Nørholm, 15837951 subsequently came out as a special edition LP boxset for Record Store Day 2020. She was a costume designer, scenographer and visual artist for "Vibrant Matter," a performance by choreographer Sophia Mage and sound artist SØS Gunver Ryberg in October 2020.
