American philanthropist, art collector, and patron of music, who worked as a songwriter and composer in New York in the 1930s, credited for writing songs such as "I Thought of Going Somewhere," "I'm in Love," and "The Galloping Goose." Her family was a prominent shipping and shipbuilding family. In 1947, she co-founded Falcon Films, Inc., an art documentary film company, which produced "Henry Moore," "French Tapestries Visit America," and "Grandma Moses." She and her partner Ala Story moved to Santa Barbara in 1952, where she served on the boards of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and the Music Academy of the West, as Chairman of Art Affiliates of the University of California in Santa Barbara. She was also a trustee of the Mystic Seaport Museum in Mystic, Connecticut, where her family's shipping interests began in 1816. She also served on various other boards and councils.
