Now decades later, Wild’s story is vague at best, though it is known that the band (originally known as The Wild) formed in 1985 and became a fixture on the Los Angeles club circuit. The core duo of multi-instrumentalist John Wildblood (real name Darren Arthur Reed) and vocalist Todd Barrone eventually signed with Columbia Records and went into the studio with producer Andy Wallace. The band's debut album, audaciously called Wild 1, hit stores in early 1988, and the first single, "Hurricane", received some MTV airplay (primarily on the network's "alternative" music program 120 Minutes). However, follow-up singles "Sex Junkie" and "Hot 4 Love" failed to make any impact, the album sold poorly, and the band quietly disappeared. Reed, now known as Dizzy Reed, joined Guns N' Roses in 1990 and is now the band's longest-serving member other than Axl Rose.
