Gitiim Chakamoi

Drummer/percussionist, originally from New York. Gitiim studied orchestral percussion and music theory at the Manhattan School of Music and the High School of Music and Art and was a touring member of Dance Theatre of Harlem's professional percussion ensemble. She then joined the punk band Steaming Vomit. Graduating from high school in Dallas, Texas, Gitiim played with a number of bands, including the all-female group Debutante and drumming for Dallas, Texas-based psychedelic rock band Lithium X-mas from 1985 to 1994. She later played in bands and other projects in Los Angeles and Houston, including the play We're Gonna Die with theater group Horse Head.
