Sérgio Castro (aka Ser Castro) is a composer, musician and performer born in March 1955 in Oporto, Portugal, who began his musical career in 1968. He was a founding member of bands such as Tijolo, Sintese and Rocka where he played drums, guitar or bass, being also a vocalist. In 1974 he joined the line-up of Psico, one of the most important hard rock and progressive rock cover band in Portugal, as bassist, then reaching high recognition. In 1975 and together with Antonio Garcez, Alvaro Azevedo and the late Sergio Cordeiro and Juca Rocha, he founded Arte & Oficio - the most original and emblematic band on the national scene. In 1980, with the complicity of his old mate Azevedo and young Joe Medicis, they pioneered to the "phenomenon" of Portuguese Rock and began a musical and literary adventure, sufficiently controversial that continues to this day – Trabalhadores do Comercio (The Retailers?). Throughout his musical career, he composed varied material, which appears in many recordings, films or theatrical plays as well as some other that remained unpublished until the present day. In the year that marks the 50th anniversary of the beginning of his career, Ser Castro announces an album with unpublished songs, to be released in 2019, with the participation of musicians of different nationalities who, over the last 5 decades, have crossed his path.
