Lalo Montané

Mexican bolero singer and requinto player (Tlalixcoyan, Veracruz, 1917 - 1987), Lalo Montané (also appears as Lalo Montañez) with only 17 years old was called to be part of Son Jarocho Tlalixcoyan, a group that in 1932 enjoyed great popularity and was recognized as the best set of soneros in all of Veracruz. As a voice versadora and requinto four strings, that same year Lalo traveled with Son Tlalixcoyan to participate in a national contest of folk music called by the Castillo Ledón Foundation, contest in which they obtained the first place with the interpretation of Blue, author Emilio Cantarell. In Mexico, in tandem with Lorenzo Barcelata, Son Tlalixcoyan is in charge of the music of some films of the now known era of Mexican Gold Cinema. This lasts a couple of years, because by 1936 Lorenzo Barcelata is hired in Hollywood and the group of are less. Most of the members, who were living in Mexico City at the time, returned to Veracruz, while Lalo opted to stay and created the trio Lira Criolla, along with Nano, who was a Cuban musician, and Tiki, who was a Veracruz native. In 1945, Lalo is hired by the group Son Clave de Oro as a singer and the pianist Daniel de la Vega also invites him to sing at Son Tropical Veracruz; another important event is the friendship with Bartolomé Moré (Benny Moré).
