Shameer Rahman aka ‘IBowtie’ was part of the band - Billy J Combo located in Georgetown in the mid 1980s. At a young age Shameer started travelling across the Guyana border to neighboring countries like Brazil, Suriname and Venezuela to showcase his singing talent. After migrating to Canada in 1990, he did his first recording at Kinix Studio in Toronto; the album was titled "I BOWTIE". Later on, he released "Mix Up Mood" and "Chant About Home". In addition he also released "Bring Back Demerara" and "Wild Indian". In 2008 some of these recordings were done at the Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston, Jamaica for some of his tracks. This album was later released in the third quarter of 2009. He also teamed up with well-known reggae artist and actor Louie Rankin on a new album for 2012. In 2013 Shameer released a number of songs that have been formed into an album called “HITS OF IBOWTIE” which was done by Rock Entertainment Studios. Up to the time of his death, Shameer hosted a weekly radio show in Canada titled - The South American Mix Show on 100.3 CKMS Sound FM. Mr. Rahman also participated in charity events like the “Saveabee” foundation fundraising shows and also the prestigious Caribbean Dreams Concert, an intitiative of Active Vision Charity Association, and other events held in Canada and the USA.
