Columbia, South Carolina’s The Nothing was formed in 1991 by founders Ed Sloan and Mitch James. They were soon joined by drummer Brian Geiger in 1992. This three piece ensemble began wowing crowds in Atlanta, Georgia clubs where they had relocated in order to attend the Atlanta Institute of Music. The Nothing returned home to Columbia as a musical unit after a year and a half. Upon returning to Columbia, Ed, Brian and Mitch focused on recording and producing their music under EBM Records. Their self-titled CD sold well and was a boost for the band's image. The Nothing has since preempted extensive club playing for song writing and working on their live performance. With an original song list of 30 plus songs, the trio has ample music to awe crowds. The Nothing then released a ten song CD entitled NUMB. With over 300 CD’s sold In the first three weeks of it’s release, the CD became a large success. The CD caught the ears of local radio stations and club owners as well as hundreds of new fans. Although not yet a big name at the time, The Nothing seemed a sure shot to be the next with powerful songs, steadily growing crowd response, and great musicianship. In the late nineties, DJ Tony Byroads would join the band, and the band would change their name from The Nothing to Sugardaddy Superstar around 2000.
