Jake Friedman (2)

English/Australian vocalist/yodeller & songwriter (b. Sunderland, England Nov., 1867 - d. Sydney 193?) First appeared on stage in 1882 ar Milburn's Varieties in Sunderland. Later in 1880s was a comic singer and a pupil of Charles Coburn. First came to Australia in 1886 and played 52 weeks on Rickard's Tivoli stage in Sydney then toured throughout Australia. Returned to London in 1900 where he performed on the Moss, Still & Mcnaghten circuits and also toured South Africa. Later was in the "Happy Holland" revue in London as a Dutch Comedian was lasted 13 years. Returned to Australia in 1925 toured Australia & New Zealand on the Fuller circuit and later with the "Veterans Of Variety" Company (1929-1930). Composed many of the songs in his repertoire.
