Official date of birth unknown, but most say that he was born sometime in the late 1800s or early 1900s in Los Llanos, Altamira, Dominican Republic. He was one of the first accordionists in the genre of merengue tipico. He was also a student of Ñico Lora. It is unknown when he died.
