Roy Agnew (2)

Australian pianist & composer (b. Sydney 23 Aug., 1891 - d. Sydney 12 Nov., 1944) Studied piano and composition at NSW Conservatorium of Music under Alfred Hill. Began composing in 1913 and some of his works were played by Benno Moisewitch at his 1920 concerts in Sydney. Went to London in 1912 and worked for BBC in the early 1930s. Returned to Australia Dec., 1934 for ABC tours and teaching at Conservatorium. Engaged full time by ABC in Jan., 1939 to work as an arranger and composer.
